And so they began arguing until the King called for silence.
"Bring me my biggest sword," said Solomon, "and I shall hew the young man in half. Each of you shall receive a half."
"Sounds good to me," said the first lady.
But the other woman said, "Oh Sire, do not spill innocent blood. Let the other woman's daughter marry him."
The wise king did not hesitate a moment. "The man must marry the first woman's daughter," he proclaimed.
"But she was willing to hew him in two!" exclaimed the king's court.
"Indeed," said wise King Solomon. "That shows she is the TRUE mother-in-law."

Video Review: Taking Chance
Last night I watched a rented DVD: "Taking Chance." I was deeply moved.
It tells the story of U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Michael R. Strobl, as he escorted the body of a young Marine killed in Iraq to his final resting place in Wyoming. It's a compelling story, but not an easy one to watch. It's not the kind of movie you'd want to watch again and again, but you should watch it once.
It's based on the trip report that Strobl wrote immediately after the the event. After getting permission from the family, he emailed his account to a few friends, and from there it spread through the military and around the world. You can read it here: http://www.chancephelps.org/?page_id=126
Kevin Bacon's portrayal of LTC Stroble is outstanding -- flawlessly eloquent in its depiction, often wordless, of the entire process by which the remains of a fallen serviceman are prepared and shipped home. The pacing of the movie is slow, but riveting. I watched the entire 1:40 without pause.
You'll be touched by the response of the American people as they encounter the escort. The respect shown by people from all walks of life is touching.

Life Imitates an Old Joke

Blonde Story of the Day
The following is a funny story shared by K.C. Williams who teaches AP Government at Santa Fe High School .
In one of K.C.'s classes, they were discussing the qualifications to be President of the United States ..
They are pretty simple:
The candidate must be a natural born citizen and at least 35 years of age.
One girl in the class immediately started complaining about how unfair the requirement to be a natural born citizen was.
In short, her opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals from becoming president.
K.C. and the class were just taking it in and letting her rant, but everyone's jaw hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating, "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country than one born by C-section?"
